Auto Part Manufacturer Faurecia Announces Collaboration With Israeli Sensor Developer Vayyar

The French auto part manufacturer will incorporate Vayyar’s in-car 3D imaging sensors into its future automotive “Cockpit”

French auto part manufacturer Faurecia and Israel-based 3D imaging sensor company Vayyar Imaging Ltd. announced a collaboration on Tuesday. In a statement, the companies said that Vayyar’s in-car sensors will be incorporated into Faurecia’s future automotive “Cockpit.” Vayyar and Faurecia showcased the jointly developed cockpit with a live demo during the Paris Motor Show on Wednesday.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the collaboration or a timeline for when the Vayyar-backed automotive cockpits will be introduced to the market.

The Vayyar-integrated cockpit is designed to continuously monitor the vehicle’s interior, locating and measuring passengers’ movement and vital signs, among other data, to improve passenger comfort and safety. Vayyar’s sensor technology is radar-based, which means it operates in any weather and light condition and does not collect visual data. The companies said they completed a successful proof of concept earlier this year. Founded in 1997, Euronext Paris-listed Faurecia reports 109,000 employees in 290 sites across 35 countries worldwide, including 30 research and development centers. The company develops automotive parts including seating, interior systems, and clean mobility technologies. In 2017, Faurecia reported total sales of 20.2 billion euros.

 

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in the Tel Aviv suburb of Yehud, Vayyar develops and markets 3D imaging sensors that can “see” through human tissue and most man-made surfaces using radio waves. Vayyar has raised $79 million in investments to date.
