Eva’s Stories, a controversial Instagram account providing a glimpse into the life of a young Jewish girl who perished in the Holocaust through “stories," now has over 1.1 million followers.
Just 14 hours after its Wednesday launch during Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day, Eva’s stories have already had over 100 million views as of Thursday morning, 3 million of them from Israel, according to data released by the operators of the account.

The project is based on the diary of 13-year old Eva Heyman who perished in 1944.
“I think that very often, we tend to put memory in a template and lose some of its essence every time we tell it,” Israeli-born businessman and tech executive Mati Kochavi, who initiated and funded the project together with his daughter Maya, said Thursday in an interview with Israeli news website Ynet. The project was an attempt to reexamine the way people perceive memories, he explained.
Since the account went live, they have been approached by institutions in various countries interested in translating the project into different languages, Kochavi added.
