The Honduran Navy Force will be receiving a new Sa'ar 62-class offshore patrol vessel this week from formerly government owned company Israel Shipyards Ltd. The ship was built during the past year in northern Israeli port city Haifa and the deal is estimated at $60 million. Israel Shipyards has previously sold six Sa'ar 62-class vessels to Azerbaijan and one to Cyprus.

While Israel itself has chosen to purchase submarines and warships from German submarine maker ThyssenKrupp AG, in a deal that later gave rise to case 3,000, a police probe concerning Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel Shipyards is not lacking for international customers. Last year the company delivered the first of four Shaldag-class patrol boats to the Argentinian coastal guard, a deal worth $49 million. Recent reports in the Philippines are also discussing the possibility of the country acquiring Shaldag-class boats from the company.
