UC Berkeley’s accelerator, Berkeley SkyDeck, has appointed Israeli venture capitalist and entrepreneur Itamar Novick as ambassador to help recruit Israeli startups for its program.

Berkeley SkyDeck is an opportunity for Israeli entrepreneurs to build their business in the U.S., Novick said in a phone interview with Calcalist Tuesday. The program is intended for early stage companies developing research-based technologies in the fields of software, robotics, and life sciences, he added.

Selected startups will receive a $100,000 investment and a shared office space in downtown Berkeley, and will have an opportunity to pitch their technology to over 650 local investors.
