Robot Companion Startup Intuition Robotics Raises $36 Million

The company develops ElliQ, a social robotic companion for the elderly, designed to encourage an active and engaged lifestyle

Israel-based robotic companion startup Intuition Robotics Ltd. announced Thursday the completion of a $36 million series B funding round led by Japanese asset management company SPARX Group Co. and Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding company OurCrowd Ltd. Toyota AI Ventures, Sompo Holdings, iRobot, Union Tech Ventures, Happiness Capital, Samsung Next, Capital Point, and Bloomberg Beta also participated. The round brought the company's total funding to date to $58 million, according to company statements.

 

Founded in 2016 and based in the greater Tel Aviv area, with additional offices in Silicon Valley and Greece, Intuition Robotics develops and markets the ElliQ robot, designed to serve as a social companion to elderly people. According to the company, ElliQ can encourage seniors to lead more active and engaged lives and help them communicate with their families using digital means.
