The European Union’s research and innovation program, Horizon 2020, recently published an open call for startups working to develop treatments or diagnostic technologies for the current coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. The EU will commit up to 45 million euros for the initiative, the program announced earlier this month.

Israel has been participating in the Horizon program, launched in 1984, for the past 23 years. The program is under the aegis of the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA), the government’s tech investment arm, via the Israel-Europe Research and Development Directorate (ISERD).
