Calcalist and CTech were joined by Insight Partners’ Managing Director, Hilary Gosher, during its Mind The Tech 2020 conference, who shared the important difference between startups and scaleups - and how Israeli companies can successfully grow their enterprises.

“A startup is very much a company looking for product-market fit, so early founders and core teams ask ‘how do we find the right customer and develop the right product?” Gosher told Omer Kabir during their discussion. “A scaleup is a company that’s got that market fit, but is now thinking ‘how do I expand, how do I grow, how do I accelerator the number of customers and revenue?”

Gosher explains that as companies grow in size and revenue, companies need a different go to market strategy. She advises companies to “develop specialized functioning skill sets” which she described as putting a dedicated go-to-market team in one of the company’s biggest markets - notably the U.S.

Insight Partners is an American venture capital firm that invests in growth-stage companies relating to technology, software, and internet services. Since its founding in 1995, it has raised more than $30 billion. Its first Tel Aviv office was opened in October 2019.
