“A container that cost $2,000 to send from China to Israel a year-and-a-half ago is now being quoted at $15,000, obviously, there is a lack of supply ships and it affects all the chains into Israel, meaning air transportation, and obviously courier transportation,” DHL Israel CEO Yair Bitton said in an interview with CTech. “We have heavier shipments into Israel and the other effect on that is that other high-tech companies that need products, raw products, electronic parts, need to catch it as fast as they can because production is in a very fast mode, everyone wants to catch up on a year-and-a-half of sleeping in a few months.”

“I think that the Covid crisis brought a lot of people to change things in their supply chain management,” Bitton added. “I think it will take time until people will go back to before 2019, sitting in their office, drinking coffee and looking for their shipments. They need to adjust their supply chain according to the new influences we are having.”
