Israel-based public transit app developer Moovit App Global Ltd. has appointed Yovav "Jay" Meydad as chief marketing officer, Meydad announced in a LinkedIn post Sunday. Meydad joined Moovit in 2013, and before his promotion, he was vice president of products and marketing. In his post, Meydad also mentioned the company is looking to hire a replacement for his former position.

Founded in 2012 and based in Ness Ziona, a town in central Israel, Moovit develops a free mobile app that provides real-time public transportation information in 2,000 cities and 80 countries. Moovit currently has 200 million users and is looking to reach 1 billion, according to Meydad. In February, Moovit raised $50 million in an investment round led by Intel's venture arm Intel Capital, bringing the company’s total funding raised to $133 million.
