Data and Infrastructure Will Revolutionize the Transit Industry, Says CEO of Public Transit Startup Moovit

The next revolution in the transit industry will be in data and infrastructure, said Nir Erez, co-founder and CEO of Israel-based public transit app developer Moovit App Global Ltd. Parking spaces will likely be converted to pick up and drop off spots for passengers and the way infrastructure will change and the data gathered by transit apps are going to transform the way we move within the city, he added.

Erez spoke Tuesday at a conference on innovation held jointly by Calcalist and events firm Connecting Leaders Club at the Mondial de l'Automobile auto show in Paris.

 


 

Founded in 2012 and based in Ness Ziona, a town in central Israel, Moovit develops a free mobile app that offers real-time public transit information. Moovit currently employs around 100 people and has raised $133 million to date from investors including Intel, BMW, and Sequoia Capital.
