AI Can Tell Us Why We Trust Politicians, Says AGT International Exec
Thomas Bader, chief technology officer at Switzerland-based homeland security contractor AGT International, spoke at Calcalist’s WeTechBerlin conference
Artificial Intelligence technology deployed by Switzerland-based AI and IoT company AGT International can analyze audience reactions to the facial expressions of politicians, according to Thomas Bader, chief technology officer at AGT.

Founded in 2007 by Israeli-born businessman Mati Kochavi, AGT is a group of companies developing technologies in the field of IoT and AI for municipalities, manufacturers, and industries such as security, sports, and entertainment. AGT operates research and development centers in Germany, Israel, and New York.
Bader spoke on Tuesday at Calcalist’s WeTechBerlin conference, held at the Hilton Berlin in collaboration with Israel’s Bank Leumi, its digital banking subsidiary LeumiTech Ltd., accounting firm KPMG, German real estate company Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC, and European investment fund Target Global.

According to Bader, understanding aspects of human behavior allows AGT researchers to analyze complex situations and answer meaningful questions, such as what makes us trust politicians. By comparing politicians’ expressions with audience reactions, we can understand what is perceived as sincere and what is perceived as fake, he explained.
“By developing AI products, we learn about ourselves and our behaviors,” Bader said.
Among other things, AGT’s technology has been used recently to analyze the expressions of Mixed Martial Art (MMA) fighters during battles, he said.
