Winners and Losers of the Week: Insight Partners Tops This Week's List

This week’s winners are:

 

New York-based venture capital and private equity firm Insight Partners, and all of the Israeli companies it touched this week. Israeli IoT security company Armis was acquired by Insight Partners for $1.1 billion. On Wednesday, Calcalist reported that Insight Partners is set to buy an 8%-10% stake in gaming company Moon Active according to a company valuation of approximately $1.2 billion. Thursday brought another two deals in which the firm was involved in: the first one being that Insight Partners is in advanced negotiations to acquire the fifth fund of Israeli venture firm Gemini Israel Ventures, in a deal that could reach $500 million. Last year, the firm bought the lion’s share of the portfolio of Genesis Partners’ fourth fund. Last but not least, the venture capital and private equity firm also led a $100 -$120 million investment in Israeli business intelligence startup Sisense at a company valuation of $1.1 billion. This week’s losers are:

 

Airspan Networks employees in Israel. The Florida-headquartered telecommunications company, with its Israeli outpost founded in 1999, has laid off dozens of employees in Israel. Read more  

 

This week’s data point: $3.7 billion

 

Artificial intelligence companies raised $3.7 billion over 199 deals in 2019. 18 mega-deals attracting 55% of the total funding, according to a report by IVC and the Israel office of international law firm ZAG-S&W. Read more
