“When you attribute success either to luck or to the market, you have that fear that when luck turns, or the markets turn, your head will be chopped off regardless of your hard work or merit - and that is a very ominous and threatening notion that you have to go to bed with every night and wake up with every morning,” explained Nimrod Vromen, Founder and CEO at Consiglieri and Partner at Yigal Arnon & Co. His firm Consiglieri focuses on providing advice for startup companies and he sees many founders battle Impostor Syndrome and the loneliness of success.

The feelings attributed to Imposter Syndrome usually mean that founders distance themselves from their own achievements and instead associate success to factors out of their control. The syndrome usually hits experts in their field - and founders of billion-dollar companies are no exception.

“I’m a founder myself and I feel like an imposter on a day-to-day basis,” he continued. “This means that I attribute Consiglieri’s success to either luck or the trends on the market and not to merit or hard work… I anticipate that the founders I work with have that problem tenfold,” he added.
