Saturas: “We are leading the in-tree intelligence revolution”

Anat Halgoa, Co-Founder and CEO at Saturas, joined CTech to discuss its device that can monitor the health and needs of trees.

“Until now, all the data that most companies out there have used for the last 20 years comes from the environment,” explained Anat Halgoa, Co-Founder and CEO at Saturas. “Either measuring the soil, or weather data, or even the tree. But indirect measurements, and trying to correlate them to what the tree really feels, is quite a complicated task. You need to manipulate a lot of parameters coming from the environment in order to estimate what's the real water status of the tree.”
Halgoa joined CTech as part of its Out of the Bubble series in Misgav to share updates on Saturas, a company that has produced what she calls “medical devices for trees”. With a minimum amount of invasion into the tree, the company has developed a device that is placed on a tree and can measure the direct needs of what it might need.
“What we are doing directly from the plant tissue, connecting directly to the plant, is the most valuable and accurate parameter,” she continued. “It is a physiological parameter being studied by scientists for many years. So there is a lot of database on how to really irrigate the tree based on the threshold that was developed for this specific parameter. That's what makes it very unique and very advanced. There is no doubt we are going to learn a lot more about trees in the next years, because this is the first time we are able to be connected to the plant tissue and start collecting a lot of data.”
“We are leading the in-tree intelligence revolution,” she added.
