Former Aconex Executive Appointed as Head of Sales at Public Transit App Moovit

Working out of San Francisco, Frank Kopas will be in charge of Moovit’s sales teams in Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas

Israel-based public transit startup Moovit App Global Ltd. has appointed Frank Kopas as vice president of worldwide sales, the company announced Tuesday. Last year, Moovit launched a suite of products to help cities, governments and transit operators improve their mobility performance, through data analytics.

Before joining Moovit, Kopas was the general manager of the Americas at Melbourne-headquartered software company Aconex Ltd., acquired by Nasdaq-listed cloud computing company Oracle Corp. earlier this year for 1.6 billion Australian dollars (approximately $1.2 billion). Working out of San Francisco, Kopas will be in charge of the company’s sales teams in Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Founded in 2012 and based in Ness Ziona, a town in central Israel, Moovit’s free mobile app provides real-time public transportation information in 2,500 cities and 83 countries. Moovit currently has over 200 million users and is looking to reach 1 billion by 2021, according to company statements. In February, Intel's venture arm Intel Capital led a $50 million round for Moovit, bringing the company’s total funding raised to $133 million.

 

 

In August, Moovit appointed company veteran Yovav "Jay" Meydad as chief marketing officer.
