Autonomi’s revolutionary technology cuts inventory management costs for healthcare facilities

With proven result cutting of more than 20% on inventory spend in several Israeli hospital wards Autonomi is preparing its entry to the US market

Recent research indicates that applying advanced technologies to supply chain operations can reduce process costs by up to 25%, particularly in the healthcare sector. For the vast majority of US hospitals, aged care facilities and other healthcare providers, inventory management can be time consuming, costly and inefficient. The majority of healthcare facilities manage their inventory at the ward-level manually, which not only eats up valuable time but can also lead to overstocking, understocking and inventory theft. Millions of dollars worth of medical equipment are wasted every year, while at the same time, medical procedures are postponed due to insufficient stock.

Enter Autonomi, an autonomous AI-based inventory management and analytics platform that was built with user experience in mind. The first of its kind, Autonomi uses cutting-edge AI and sensor-based technology to power its platform which is installed at the ward level. Rather than replacing existing ERP systems, the platform is an add-on that addresses blind spots in the last mile, such as cabinets, cooling rooms, nurse stations, storage spaces and open spaced shelves.
Autonomi's system not only addresses the main challenges of inventory management but is also incredibly easy to use, requiring zero manual data entry from healthcare staff. The technology tracks inventory items as well as who uses them, and inventory usage per procedure to optimize hospital resources and manage budgets more effectively.

Staff can view and manage the platform via a mobile phone app or web consul where they are provided with real-time insights and analytics on product usage. The platform uses these insights to make automated supply orders before items run out, thus ensuring that healthcare facilities always have the optimal stock needed.
In addition to cutting costs and streamlining what is often a taxing administrative system, Autonomi’s platform allows healthcare professionals to focus on patient care. Healthcare facilities have the ability to reallocate funds that would be spent on inventory to patient care. This “revolutionary” technology reduces dependence on healthcare professionals, freeing up their time, and also making their jobs easier.

Autonomi’s system is already being used in both Israeli and U.S.-based hospitals and aged care facilities, with plans to expand across North America in 2024. CEO Yoav Kestel says that the impact has been profound with healthcare administrators reporting increased efficiency as well as significant cost reductions. “We are ensuring that the right amount of inventory is in the right place when needed, and saving healthcare facilities close to 25% of their budget in inventory expenses,” says Kestel. “Our goal is to enable healthcare facilities to provide better care to all, and if we are able to accomplish this and also help them to optimize resources, then we’ve done our job.”
