"The sky's the limit when Israeli innovation is combined with the Japanese way of doing things"

"Israel-Japan relations in all fields are like the sakura, the 'cherry blossom' in Japanese," Israel's Ambassador to Japan Gilad Cohen told CTech at the Israel-Japan Conference in Tokyo

"Israel-Japan relations in all fields are like the sakura, which means 'cherry blossom' in Japanese," Israel's Ambassador to Japan Gilad Cohen told CTech at the Israel-Japan Conference in Tokyo. "You can feel it - and it's amazing."
"Israel is perceived by the Japanese as the 'startup nation', they like our innovation as well as our boldness and our attitude. It can compliment the Japanese mindset in doing business. When you combine the synergy of Israeli high-tech innovation with the Japanese way of doing things - their products, for example, Japanese cars, are among the best in the world - the sky's the limit."
Ambassador Cohen cited impressive statistics reflecting how much Japan believes in the Israeli economy. "There are over 90 Japanese companies that opened R&D offices and innovation centers in Israel. The level of investment by Japanese companies in Israel reached $40 billion since 2014, when in 2014 it sat at $200 million. By comparison, by 2021 it reached $3 billion." The ambassador called on more Japanese companies to invest in Israeli companies.
Later in the conversation the ambassador cited the fact that El Al has established direct flights between Tel Aviv and Tokyo as a major strategic move which greatly helps advance Israel-Japan relations, helping bridge the gap between the two countries not only in business, but in tourism as well.
