Israeli eVTOL startup AIR secures $1 billion in orders for personal aircraft
3,300 customers join waiting list as company prepares for FAA approval.
Israeli smart aircraft developer AIR has received orders worth $1 billion, with 3,300 customers currently on a waiting list for its AIR ONE eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) personal aircraft. This is in addition to more than $35 million in revenue generated from the supply of logistics aircraft and related equipment.
The AIR ONE is a two-seat electric aircraft with a range of approximately 160 km and a top speed of up to 250 km/h. Deliveries are expected to begin following regulatory approval and the start of serial production, both anticipated this year.
The company is currently working to accelerate production in preparation for obtaining certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which is expected this year. At the same time, AIR is already generating revenue from the sale of more than 25 AIR Cargo unmanned aerial vehicles. Two units have already been delivered to customers, and more than 20 additional units are expected to be delivered in the coming months.
The company was founded in 2018 by Chen Rosen, Rani Plaut, and Netanel Goldberg. Last July, it raised $23 million in a funding round led by Entrée Capital, with participation from Shmuel Harlap, an investor in the company since its founding. AIR operates production facilities in Kfar Yona and an operations center in Florida, and employs approximately 70 people, 63 of whom are based in Israel.
The company’s growth follows several strategic moves, including a cooperation agreement with ST Engineering to expand operations in Europe, the launch of its first production line, and the classification of its aircraft under the Light Sport Aircraft category in the United States. In September 2025, the company’s new prototype received FAA approval.
"The rapid emergence of the smart aircraft market, and AIR's capabilities, is poised to transform the future of efficient and convenient transportation," said Rani Plaut, CEO and Co-Founder, AIR. "Our mission is to make air mobility accessible and routine, while bridging personal, commercial, and defense transportation and operations. This level of demand is a testament to AIR's success and our ongoing commitment to engineering excellence and pioneering the future of mobility."
