“I spend most of my time these days trying to figure out how we bring the best breakthrough technologies for brain and mental health into the market and to the people that really need them. And so Serendipity this is how we're doing that. We invest in deep tech startups sourced mainly from Israel that are developing some of the best solutions for some of the biggest challenges that humanity is facing today, which is brain and mental health,” said Dr. Maria Blekher, Serendipity Impact VC co-founder and managing partner.
Blekher spoke with CTech’s Allon Sinai during the Calcalist and Bank Leumi Mind the Tech New York 2026 conference. She explained the gravity of finding innovations that can promote mental wellness.
“If you look at the numbers today, every other American has suffered, is suffering, or will suffer - or experience - some sort of mental or neuro-related condition ranging from autism through anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and now as the population is getting older, we're looking at higher rates of Alzheimer's and dementia. Now think about how each one of these impacts an individual. Then think about the community, the society, the workforce.
“When our brain is not functioning at its optimal level and where our mental health is not at its best, it has an impact that goes beyond the individual. It impacts the families, it impacts workplaces, and it impacts the general resilience of a society. I think we're seeing a lot of that these days in Israel.”
