Cyber unicorn Pentera cuts 40 jobs while expanding AI push
The company is trimming marketing and HQ roles while continuing to recruit engineers.
Cyber unicorn Pentera is laying off about 40 employees, less than 10% of its workforce of 470, half of whom are based in Israel, Calcalist has learned.
The cuts are concentrated in marketing teams and headquarters roles.
The move is part of a broader shift to focus on continued product development while allocating more resources to artificial intelligence and innovation.
Despite the layoffs, the company continues to recruit for development positions.
In March 2025, Pentera raised about $60 million in a Series D round, bringing its total capital raised to approximately $250 million. The company has also crossed $100 million in annual recurring revenue.
Separately, it has made two strategic acquisitions: DevOcean and EVA Information Security.
The company has recently expanded its global footprint, opening offices in Colorado and Madrid in addition to existing locations in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Germany, Denver, and Boston.
Pentera said it will assist departing employees in finding new roles, emphasizing recognition of their professional skills and contributions.
In a statement, Pentera said: “Pentera is making organizational adjustments as part of a focus on core activities and the continued development of its AI-driven cybersecurity verification products. As part of this, we are refining the company’s structure and resource allocation to adapt to changing market needs and strengthen our technological focus. At the same time, Pentera continues to recruit across product, engineering, and AI innovation teams, and is expanding its global operations.”
