CrowdStrike acquires browser security startup Seraphic for $400 million
Founded in 2020, the Israeli company focuses on embedding security directly into the browser.
CrowdStrike is acquiring Israeli startup Seraphic Security. While the companies have not disclosed the terms of the deal, Calcalist has learned that CrowdStrike will pay around $400 million for the Israeli company.
Seraphic raised $29 million in Series A funding round led by GreatPoint Ventures (GPV) in January of last year, with participation from the CrowdStrike Falcon Fund and existing investors Planven, Cota Capital, and Storm Ventures. The company has raised around $37 million in total.
Seraphic, which was founded in 2020 by CEO Ilan Yeshua, former longtime CEO of news website Walla, and CTO Avihay Cohen, employs over 50 people.
Seraphic’s platform transforms any browser into a secure browser with protection and detection capabilities. It also enables secure access to SaaS and private web applications for employees and third parties on both managed and personal devices, without the complexity and cost of VDI or VPN. Invisible to end users, Seraphic supports all browsers as well as SaaS desktop applications like Teams, Slack, Discord, and WhatsApp.
This acquisition marks CrowdStrike’s sixth in Israel and its first since 2024. CrowdStrike previously acquired Adaptive Shield for $300 million in November 2024, DSPM startup Flow Security for around $200 million in March of that year, six months after purchasing Bionic for $350 million.
Seraphic operates in a competitive market that includes a number of Israeli companies, notably Talon, which was acquired by Palo Alto Networks, and Island. Unlike these competitors, Seraphic Security has developed a software component that integrates directly into the browser to prevent attacks. The company argues that this approach addresses common industry challenges, including slow and cumbersome workflows, high deployment costs, lengthy installation processes, and the need for significant ongoing maintenance resources.
CrowdStrike said that combining Seraphic’s browser-native protection with the Falcon platform’s extensive endpoint telemetry and threat intelligence, along with SGNL’s continuous authorization technology acquired last week, will enable the company to deliver a unified next-generation identity security strategy.
"Productivity requires flexibility and security; users want to work in their browser of choice. Seraphic delivers exactly that," said George Kurtz, CEO and founder of CrowdStrike. "By decoupling security from the browser itself, we can turn any browser into a secure enterprise browser, without forcing change or slowing productivity. With our vast endpoint signals combined with Seraphic’s in-session visibility and SGNL’s dynamic authorization, we are defining the future of Zero Standing Privilege for the modern agentic workforce."
The purchase price is to be paid predominantly in cash and includes a portion to be delivered in the form of stock subject to vesting conditions.
"The browser is where modern work happens," said Ilan Yeshua, CEO and co-founder of Seraphic. "In joining CrowdStrike, we are bringing platform-level protection to the most important execution layer in the enterprise, ensuring that zero trust is a continuous reality, not just a gateway check."
