After raising $124 million, Sight Diagnostics on brink of closure after laying off all employees
Board moves to cut final employees as company struggles to continue.
Medical device company Sight Diagnostics, which developed a device for rapid blood count testing, has laid off all of its employees, approximately 20 people. The decision was made by the company’s board of directors in recent days.
The company has undergone a prolonged series of layoffs and organizational changes in recent years, and has now effectively been forced to dismiss its remaining workforce. At its peak, the company employed more than 150 people. The company declined to comment.
The company developed an innovative device designed to perform a complete blood count test quickly, using a minimal amount of blood.
Sight OLO enables fast, accurate, and convenient blood diagnostics, using either venous or finger-prick samples, and delivers complete blood count results within minutes. The OLO device is compact, lightweight, and quick and simple to install. Unlike traditional blood count systems, it does not require reagents or manual quality control tests, a feature that makes it significantly easier to use in small clinics and independent laboratories.
Sight Diagnostics was founded in 2011 by Yossi Pollak (CEO) and Dr. Daniel Levner. The company has raised approximately $124 million to date. Its investors include Koch Disruptive Technologies, Longliv Ventures, CK Hutchison Holdings, and OurCrowd.
