DualBird CEO Amir Gilad dies unexpectedly
Young Israeli startup faces a profound loss following the death of its co-founder.
The Israeli startup community is mourning the unexpected death of Amir Gilad, co-founder and CEO of DualBird.
DualBird confirmed the news in a brief statement on LinkedIn, saying it was “heartbroken” by Gilad’s passing. The company did not provide further details.
“Amir wasn’t just an exceptional leader,” the statement read. “He built DualBird with rare clarity, quiet determination, and a deep, genuine care for the people around him.”
Gilad co-founded DualBird alongside Gilad Tal, Ehud Eliaz and Ohad Gamliel. The founding team brought experience from Amazon Web Services and the semiconductor industry, combining expertise in both hardware and software. Prior to establishing the company, Gilad worked as a chip design engineer at Amazon and earlier held roles at Intel.
In November 2025, DualBird raised $17 million in a Series A funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Uncork Capital and Angular Ventures. The round followed an $8 million Seed investment and was intended to support the company’s expansion into large-scale, mission-critical workloads.
DualBird's platform, delivered through a lightweight plug-in, is designed to provide hardware-grade acceleration without requiring major changes to existing systems.
DualBird employs about 30 people. In its statement, the company emphasized continuity alongside loss, noting that Gilad’s influence would remain embedded in its work and culture.
“Amir’s DNA is in the core of DualBird,” the company said, “and it will continue to shape how we think, how we build, and how we show up every single day.”
