High Lander Unveils New System to Identify Friendly and Hostile Drones

Andromeda, designed for homeland security organizations, brings together data from different drone detection systems into one airspace picture, allowing operators to identify in real time which drones are authorized to fly and which may pose a security threat

Against the backdrop of the growing drone threat in Israel and around the world, and its expansion from the battlefield into cities, critical infrastructure and civilian areas, High Lander is launching Andromeda, a new airspace security layer designed for homeland security organizations, police and emergency services, airports, ports, energy facilities and public safety organizations.
The system makes it possible to understand not only that a drone is in the air, but also what kind of drone it is, whether it is authorized to operate, and whether an immediate response is required.

In recent years, drones have become one of the most significant challenges to homeland security. They can disrupt airport operations, force large-scale events to stop, put emergency teams at risk, and can also be used for hostile activity and intelligence gathering. This new reality requires a shift from systems that simply detect drones to systems that can understand the full airspace picture.
Andromeda brings together information from a wide range of sources, including radar, ADS-B, Remote ID, RF systems, cameras, optical and acoustic sensors, telemetry and third-party systems, and combines it into a single operational display using Sensor Fusion technology. The system cross-checks data from multiple sources, filters duplicate detections and improves identification accuracy, allowing operators to quickly determine whether a drone is authorized, unidentified or represents a potential threat.
The main challenge today is not necessarily a lack of sensors, but the lack of one complete picture. Many organizations operate several detection systems at the same time, with each system displaying its information separately. Andromeda is designed to connect these systems and distinguish between authorized drones, commonly referred to in the security field as “blue,” and unauthorized or hostile drones, referred to as “red,” as part of a real-time Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) process.
The idea behind the system is simple: in order to identify a threat reliably, you first need to know who is flying legally.
High Lander, which currently operates in the field of drone traffic management, is expanding its activity into airspace security with Andromeda. In addition to providing a real-time operational picture, the system is designed to provide operational insights and recommended actions, as well as analyze activity patterns over time.
For example, the system can identify a drone that has appeared near several sensitive facilities at different times, helping organizations build intelligence even before an actual intrusion takes place.

Andromeda is hardware-agnostic and can connect to different types of sensors and systems, either in the cloud or on-premises, without depending on a specific manufacturer. It also integrates with High Lander’s other solutions, Vega UTM for traffic management and Orion DFM for fleet management, providing a broad solution that covers everything from managing authorized drone flights to identifying potential threats.
