Base44 doubles ARR to $200 million in just five months
Maor Shlomo says the AI startup has added another $100 million in annual recurring revenue since March, as its push into its own AI models gives Wix a rapidly expanding growth engine.
Maor Shlomo’s Base44 has reached $200 million in annual recurring revenue, just five months after crossing the $100 million mark.
“We just blew past $200M ARR at Base44,” Shlomo wrote in a post on Thursday. “5 months after hitting $100M. We’ve released Base 1 in between.”
The latest figure means Base44, acquired by Wix in 2025, has added roughly $50 million in annual recurring revenue since May, when the company disclosed that it had reached a $150 million run rate.
Base44 allows users to build applications through natural-language conversations with AI, a category commonly known as “vibe coding.” Shlomo founded the company shortly after completing an extended period of reserve duty following the October 7 attacks, and it grew rapidly enough to be acquired by Wix only months after its launch.
The $200 million figure also comes as Base44 is becoming increasingly vertically integrated. In his post, Shlomo highlighted the company’s ability to control its “entire stack,” including its backend and AI models.
That strategy is reflected in Base44’s launch of Base1, its own dedicated large language model. Wix said the model is intended to reduce computing and inference costs, which have been among the largest expenses associated with running AI products.
When Wix last reported results two weeks ago, it said Base44 had reached a $150 million ARR in May and that the business remained one of its fastest-growing operations. Wix also said it expected Base44’s gross margin to improve to roughly 60% in the second half of 2026, from levels close to break-even earlier in the year, as the company benefits from its own model and other efficiencies.
Rather than immediately converting those gains into higher profits, Wix said it planned to reinvest much of the savings in marketing to accelerate Base44’s growth and increase its market share.
The rapid expansion has also made Base44 a significant part of Wix’s financial story. Wix disclosed in its second-quarter results that it would pay Shlomo another $41 million after Base44 exceeded another set of performance milestones, pushing his total proceeds from the acquisition above $150 million.
Shlomo, meanwhile, emphasized the people behind the growth in his post, writing: “I’m proud of the healthy business we’re building,” and crediting the team he described as “very special.”
