Asaf Banai, founder and CEO of Profit, a financial planning group with a heavy focus on the tech industry, spoke with CTech's Amy Shapiro at Calcalist's annual Tech1 conference at Expo Tel Aviv.
Banai, who described himself as more of a comedian and teacher than a tech or finance guy, co-founded Profit about 20 years ago with his partner Shlomi. He said the war put Israel's defense tech capabilities in the world's front window, and argued that the only way to lower risk is broad diversification rather than betting on any one sector.
He also said AI will challenge people who rely on intelligence alone and favor those with high emotional intelligence. On geopolitics, he said investors ultimately care about returns, and that he is optimistic about Israel "not because of the politicians," but because of its people.
