In an interview with CTech at the Mind The Tech 2025 conference in Berlin, Shira Kaplan, founder & CEO of Zurich-based cyber-security firm Cyverse, noted that a key trend gaining traction is next-generation data leakage prevention, along with AI-augmented Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and the arrival of quantum software computing.
Kaplan also highlighted the growing importance of understanding AI’s dual role in cybersecurity. “We’re already living in a world where AI is attacking AI,” she said, explaining that the technology is being used both as a tool for cyberattacks, such as AI-powered phishing and ransomware, and as a defensive mechanism, with AI integrated into many security systems. This evolving landscape requires businesses to rethink their approach to both attack and defense strategies.
Looking ahead, the conversation also turned to the rise of quantum computing. Large Swiss enterprises are already inquiring about quantum resilience, recognizing that the “quantum moment" will soon arrive, potentially by 2027 or 2028. The cyber market remains fragmented, but Kaplan sees significant opportunities in areas like enterprise AI and quantum software, which could reshape the cybersecurity landscape.
