
Israeli eVTOL maker AIR unveils upgraded personal aircraft ahead of piloted flight tests
The latest version of AIR ONE features a redesigned airframe, new propulsion and avionics systems, and improved cockpit ergonomics as the company prepares for the next phase of flight testing.
Israeli electric aircraft developer AIR has unveiled the latest version of its flagship AIR ONE personal electric aircraft, introducing a series of design and engineering upgrades ahead of planned piloted flight testing later this year.
The company presented the aircraft at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, one of the world's largest aviation gatherings, where it is showcasing the updated platform and outlining its roadmap for personal electric aviation and autonomous cargo aircraft.
The latest AIR ONE incorporates a redesigned airframe engineered by EDAG to improve structural performance and manufacturability, along with new electric motors supplied by NIDEC, an updated battery system, and Dynon Avionics' SkyView HDX flight display. The aircraft also features upgraded seating, an overhead cockpit panel, and redesigned cockpit ergonomics intended to create a more intuitive flying experience.
According to AIR, the new configuration was developed using data gathered from thousands of test flights conducted with earlier prototypes. The company said the latest version is specifically designed to support piloted flight testing scheduled for later this year and reflects engineering refinements made through successive prototype iterations.
"Every version of AIR ONE builds on what we've learned in the air," said Rani Plaut, AIR's CEO and co-founder. "This latest configuration was purpose-built for piloted flight testing, and every enhancement brings us another step closer to making aviation more accessible."
AIR develops electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for both civilian and defense markets. Alongside AIR ONE, which is being developed for private ownership, the company is also developing autonomous cargo aircraft designed for defense applications and critical logistics missions.
