Boomi acquires Israeli startup Elementary for $40-45 million
The deal marks Boomi’s third Israeli acquisition, following Rivery and Lunar.dev. Elementary’s data observability tools are designed to help companies monitor the quality and reliability of information used by AI agents and enterprise systems.
Boomi, whose platform connects data, applications and systems for more than 30,000 customers worldwide, has acquired Israeli startup Elementary Data in a deal valued at approximately $40-45 million in cash and stock. The acquisition strengthens Boomi’s enterprise platform with tools for monitoring data quality, governance and reliability as companies increasingly deploy AI agents. It marks Boomi’s third acquisition in Israel, following its purchases of Rivery and Lunar.dev.
Elementary was founded by Maayan Salom, its CEO, and Or Avidov, its chief product and technology officer. Both are veterans of IDF intelligence unit 8200. Salom previously managed incident response engagements at Sygnia, while Avidov served as director of engineering at Singular. By the end of 2022, Elementary had raised $8.5 million from TLV Partners, Cowboy Ventures, Y Combinator and angel investors. All 17 employees are based in Israel and will join Boomi, which plans to significantly expand its local operations.
Elementary develops data observability software that monitors the reliability of information used in enterprise workflows and AI agents. Its tools help data teams identify problems before they affect business reports, models or automated systems. The acquisition will bring these capabilities into Boomi’s enterprise platform, extending its ability to monitor data quality and governance across organizations.
Elementary began as an open-source project designed to integrate data observability into modern data workflows. In 2024, it launched Elementary Cloud, adding enterprise features to the open-source foundation. Its customers include Fiverr and Patagonia. According to the company, its technology is used by more than 1,500 data teams, its open-source tool receives over 1.1 million downloads per month, and its community has approximately 4,000 members.
Both the commercial product and the open-source project will continue under Boomi, with uninterrupted service for existing customers. Boomi says it intends to continue supporting the project and its community, with no immediate changes planned to the code repository, release process or the way the community uses the software.
Elementary’s platform goes beyond monitoring by consolidating data definitions, ownership information and quality metrics into a shared catalog. It also tracks data lineage at the column level across ingestion, transformation, semantic layers, business intelligence and AI, helping organizations trace information through their systems. An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server makes data context and health information available to AI tools and agents, helping them understand the information they use and assess its reliability.
Its AI agents can automatically create data tests, detect anomalies in data freshness, volume and quality, prioritize incidents, and automate tasks related to governance and performance optimization. Integrating these capabilities into Boomi’s Enterprise Platform and its Active Data Foundation is intended to extend monitoring across data stored in warehouses and information moving between applications and systems.
The deal also adds another component to Boomi’s growing portfolio of Israeli technology. Rivery provides data integration capabilities, while Lunar.dev focuses on connecting AI agents and tools to systems through governed access and gateway capabilities. Elementary adds the data observability and reliability layer, linking the three acquisitions around the movement, access and quality of enterprise data.
“AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it,” said Steve Lucas, chairman and CEO of Boomi. He said Elementary’s technology would add observability, quality and governance capabilities to help ensure that the data used by customers’ AI systems and agents is reliable and explainable.
“We started Elementary on a simple conviction: data teams deserved the same reliability tooling that software engineering teams have relied on for years. AI made that conviction urgent,” said Salom, CEO and co-founder of Elementary. She said joining Boomi would give the company access to a global customer base of more than 30,000 organizations and a network of more than 800 partners.
