Converge Bio raises $25 million Series A to accelerate AI drug discovery
The funding brings total investment to $30 million as the startup works with pharma partners on antibody design and protein optimization.
Converge Bio, an Israeli-founded AI platform aimed at accelerating drug discovery and development, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $25 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total financing to $30 million. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and included participation from TLV Partners, Vintage Investment Partners, Saras Capital, and executives from Meta, OpenAI, and Wiz.
Founded in 2024, Converge has already attracted over a dozen pharmaceutical and biotech clients, who use its platform for target discovery, antibody design, and protein manufacturing optimization. The platform combines multiple models into a single system that plugs into existing drug development workflows, enabling biologists to generate actionable results without writing code or building infrastructure.
“The conversation needs to shift from models to AI systems,” said Dov Gertz, CEO and co-founder of Converge Bio. “Unlike ChatGPT, you can’t simply prompt a model and get useful results. It requires high-quality data, the right architectures, and a tight experimental validation loop. That’s why most drug development is still done through trial and error, taking years and costing hundreds of millions of dollars.”
The company’s approach is already yielding results across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology, neurodegenerative diseases, and autoimmune conditions. Over the past year, Converge completed more than 40 programs with partners, helping them discover novel antibodies with single-digit nanomolar binding affinities, improve protein manufacturing yields by 4 to 7 times, and identify molecular biomarkers to optimize patient response.
Converge’s leadership team includes Gertz, who developed a machine-learning method for discovering novel CRISPR systems; CSO Iddo Weiner, who has led two drug programs to successful Phase 2 clinical readouts; and CTO Oded Kalev, a former cybersecurity AI lead who has advised U.S. government agencies on large-scale generative AI applications.
The funding will be used to expand Converge’s platform capabilities, scale its team, and deepen partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies seeking to integrate AI into drug development.
