El Al to resume direct flights to Marrakech after two-year hiatus
Sun d’Or will operate twice-weekly flights to the Moroccan city starting November 16, with round-trip fares beginning at $599, subject to regulatory approvals.
Sun d’Or, an El Al subsidiary, will resume direct flights from Israel to Marrakech, Morocco. Flights are scheduled to begin on November 16, subject to the necessary approvals, and will operate twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Launch fares will start at $599 for a round-trip ticket under the “Lite” fare, which includes only a trolley bag and carry-on luggage.
For Israeli airlines, Morocco has emerged as a destination for Israeli tourism in recent years following the Abraham Accords. However, flight operations have been affected by the security and political situation as well as demand, leading to the suspension of the Marrakech route on October 7, 2023. El Al is now joining Arkia and Israir, which both resumed flights to Marrakech last August.
The Marrakech route will join 12 other winter destinations that Sun d’Or is set to operate: Larnaca and Paphos in Cyprus; Batumi and Tbilisi in Georgia; Tirana in Albania; Chisinau in Moldova; Belgrade in Serbia; Warsaw and Krakow in Poland; Salzburg in Austria; Lyon in France; and Verona in Italy.
