“We are ensuring the hits, compensating [for] both the target movement and the shooter movement," says Yoav Galster, Product Manager at fire control system company Smart Shooter. Established in 2011, the company recently completed an IPO on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, raising $65 million at a valuation of nearly $293 million.
Galster spoke with CTech’s Amy Shapiro during the Defense Tech Expo 2026 in Tel Aviv (February 17 2026), an event that underscored the significant shift of the Israeli technology sector. In the wake of October 7, Israel’s defense sector has experienced a maturation, accelerating from a period of rapid adaptation to a sustained "gold rush," driven by battlefield-proven solutions and a global increase in defense spending.

As Galster explains, the growth and tech agility of Smart Shooter have been heavily supported by direct, on-the-ground insights from its workforce. Apart from having combat experience in the IDF, many employees are still in active reserve duty. "So most of our employees are doing this kind of dual work and this is why we can implement the things very fast in our systems," Galster notes. He adds that this close connection to the frontline is vital because "once the battlefield is changing, you have to change with it."
