“If these Israelis can’t vote from abroad, let's get them to Israel to participate in the elections”
The America Israel Democracy (AID) Coalition is launching the "Fly and Vote" initiative, a logistical platform designed to bypass Israel's lack of absentee voting by helping citizens abroad return home to participate in the 2026 elections.

“The Flying Vote initiative’s purpose is to help Israelis that are residing abroad - not just the United States, all over the world - to come and vote in Israel and participate in the elections,” said Jonathan Barsade, president of the America-Israel Democracy (AID) Coalition.
Barsade spoke with CTech’s Allon Sinai during the Calcalist and Bank Leumi Mind the Tech New York 2026 conference. He elaborated on the AID Coalition’s interest in helping Israelis residing abroad.
“We're talking about a group of people that are very much active in what's happening in Israel in real time. They'll wake up in the morning and they'll open up the Israeli newspaper. They will watch the Israeli news. They're engaged. We said, well, if these Israelis cannot vote from abroad, let's help them get to Israel to participate in the elections.”
“We started off in the summer of 2023. We brought several delegations from Israel, and we also opened up a financial platform for the collection of donations in the United States to support and fund different activities that focus on [impacting] the democratic foundations of this country.”
