"Fintech is alive, but it's becoming part of a lot of other things," stated Viola FinTech General Partner Noam Inbar. Speaking to CTech’s Amy Shapiro at the Tech1 events and awards gala, Inbar pushed back on the narrative that fintech is dead. “Fintech was mostly about building interfaces. Today it's about managing mandates,” she explained.
In general for the VC sector evaluating startups has become harder, said Inbar, explaining that their job is "much more difficult in underwriting companies in trying to find the real moat beyond AI." Further, warning against the current hype cycle surrounding AI, Noam expressed that "there can only be so many services or software startups."
