Israeli startup Qedma joins forces with Quantinuum to tackle one of quantum computing's biggest obstacles

The companies have integrated Qedma's error mitigation software with Quantinuum's quantum hardware, aiming to run larger and more accurate quantum workloads before fully fault-tolerant machines arrive.

Israeli quantum software startup Qedma is partnering with Quantinuum in an effort to address one of the biggest challenges preventing quantum computing from moving beyond experimental applications: hardware errors.
The companies announced on Thursday that Qedma has completed a year-long integration with Quantinuum's quantum computing platform, allowing customers to use its Quantum Error Suppression and Error Mitigation (QESEM) software on Quantinuum's hardware. The work was carried out as part of Quantinuum's Startup Partner Program, of which Qedma is a founding member.

Rather than building quantum computers, Qedma focuses on software designed to compensate for the errors that remain one of the defining limitations of current-generation quantum hardware. Its technology is intended to improve the accuracy of quantum computations, enabling researchers and enterprises to run larger and more complex algorithms without waiting for fully fault-tolerant quantum computers to become commercially available.
The integration combines Qedma's error mitigation software with Quantinuum's hardware platform, which the companies say is already capable of running quantum simulations at the frontier of classical computational limits. Together, they aim to extend the size and complexity of quantum workloads that can be executed in fields including finance, materials science and scientific research.
"Running algorithms beyond the reach of classical simulation requires quantum computers with both a large number of qubits and exceptionally low error rates, which is exactly why we wanted to join Quantinuum's Startup Partner Program," said Dr. Asif Sinay, Qedma's co-founder and CEO.
According to Sinay, early tests produced encouraging results on demanding quantum workloads. "In initial runs, QESEM's performance on Quantinuum systems showed benefits on extremely challenging quantum workloads, including simulations at the frontier of classical computation," he said.
Error correction has long been regarded as one of quantum computing's greatest technical hurdles. While advances in hardware continue to improve the quality of quantum processors, today's machines still generate enough errors to limit the scale of practical applications. Companies across the sector have increasingly turned to software-based error mitigation techniques as an intermediate step toward fully fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Qedma was founded specifically to address that challenge. Its QESEM software is hardware-agnostic, allowing it to operate across different quantum computing platforms while helping users obtain more reliable results from existing systems.
