Vast Data's $30 billion valuation delivers $45 million windfall for Israeli institutions
Harel, Phoenix, Amitim and Meitav are among the investors benefiting from the AI infrastructure company's latest funding round.
Vast Data's soaring valuation has generated a rapid paper profit of approximately $45 million (NIS 135 million) for Israeli institutional investors. Harel recorded an estimated gain of about NIS 45 million ($15 million), Phoenix NIS 40 million ($13.1 million), while Amitim and Meitav each posted gains of NIS 25-30 million ($8.2-9.8 million).
In April, Vast Data completed a $1 billion funding round at a $30 billion valuation, more than tripling its valuation from $9.1 billion in its previous financing round at the end of 2023. The company reached the new valuation after achieving an annual revenue run rate of approximately $500 million. Existing investors, including Nvidia and Fidelity, participated in the round alongside new investors.
The Israeli institutional investors gained exposure to Vast Data through the international secondary fund Coller International Partners VIII, which focuses on investing in mature private companies. Israeli investors committed approximately $500 million to the fund, with about two-thirds coming from institutional investors. Harel invested NIS 360 million ($118 million), Phoenix NIS 300 million ($98 million), Amitim NIS 215 million ($70.5 million), and Meitav NIS 200 million ($65.6 million). Coller raised capital from private Israeli investors through Value Advanced Investments.
According to Coller, the fund invested $84 million in Vast Data. The company's rapid appreciation enabled the fund to recover its original investment, with its remaining stake now representing pure gains. Today, Coller's holding in Vast Data is valued at approximately $834 million.
