Einat Weidberg, Head of High Tech Practice at Shibolet Law Firm, which also covers the firm's cross-border work, spoke with CTech's Amy Shapiro at Calcalist's annual Tech1 conference at Expo Tel Aviv.
Weidberg, who has practiced law for 26 years, said the main challenge for Israeli tech is staying relevant, which depends on funding early-stage companies at a time when many foreign investors look for mature companies with revenue and clients.
She said global consolidation, seen in cybersecurity and defense, makes M&A a more relevant path than IPOs for most companies right now, with earn-outs and management compensation increasingly used to bridge valuation gaps and keep teams in place after acquisitions. She also called for attracting more foreign private equity and for stopping the trend of Israeli companies incorporating abroad and management relocating overseas.
