Sightful’s Spacetop arrives on Windows with Intel and Deutsche Telekom powering expansion
Software-first strategy opens new markets for AR workspace solution amid the rise of AI PCs.
Tel-Aviv-based Sightful has announced that it has launched Spacetop for Windows, a software-only version of its AR laptop solution. The release marks a shift in its focus from hardware distribution to software distribution and will now be available on modern AI-powered Windows laptops, offering a new way to work from virtually anywhere.
“Spacetop is exactly why AI PCs were designed - it unlocks the true power of the architecture,” said Tamir Berliner, CEO and co-founder of Sightful. “For four years while we developed Spacetop, the number one request from users and businesses was ‘When is it coming to Windows?’ Today is that day. The rise of AI laptops not only accelerated our mission to use software to reach scale but unlocked huge new possibilities for what an AR workspace can do when combined with the power of AI.”
Initially, the company developed its own hardware to deliver its AR tool. However, despite raising over $60 million, the company parted ways with its entire hardware team, roughly one-third of its workforce to focus on a software-only solution. Today it has 35 employees, down from 60 in 2024. Now, it aims to work with other companies due to the emergence of AI PCs, equipped with dedicated NPUs alongside powerful and power-efficient CPUs and GPUs. Canalys forecasts that nearly 1 in 5 PCs shipped in 2024 will be AI-capable, rising to over 60% by 2027.
Spacetop creates an immersive, 100-inch virtual workspace that users can carry in their backpack. By pairing lightweight AR glasses with the new Windows-based software, users can unlock a multi-monitor setup on the go: whether in a café, airplane, or on the sofa. Designed for privacy and productivity, the platform allows sensitive work to remain completely invisible to people nearby. It integrates with popular Windows applications, allowing users to place messaging apps off to the side, documents front and center, or stretch spreadsheets vertically across the massive virtual canvas.
CTech had an opportunity to test Sightful’s technology last year on its native SpaceOS. “Sightful understands that their Spacetop device is for those who are on the go yet still want to experience a large workspace to complete their tasks as they travel,” we wrote. “For that, the device truly is the next step in spatial computing with a promising future for those attracted to remote work.”
In addition to the launch of Spacetop for Windows, it will be available internationally, expanding beyond the U.S. into Germany via a new strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom, who will help bring Spacetop to their B2B customer base.
Additional collaborations with SHI International Corp and Intel will bring new distribution channels for Spacetop enterprise sales, as well as ongoing strategic product development efforts with Intel Corporation.
“We formed Sightful in 2020, based on a belief that augmented reality is the right direction to take personal computing. Massive companies like Apple, Meta, Google — they all seem to agree that AR is the future. But we’re focused on delivering value now,” said Tomer Kahan, co-founder and COO. “Spacetop is for people who need to work — securely, comfortably, and powerfully — today.”
