Nadav Zafrir exits SolarEdge board to focus on Check Point

Former chairman leaves after guiding company through leadership transition and market turmoil.

Nadav Zafrir, CEO of Check Point, is stepping down from his role as a member of the SolarEdge board of directors. The move stems from Zafrir’s decision to focus on managing Check Point, a position he assumed in December 2024.
Zafrir was appointed chairman of SolarEdge six years ago, shortly before the death of the company’s founder, Guy Sella, in 2019. He served as chairman until November 2024, stepping down upon his appointment at Check Point but remaining on the SolarEdge board. He is now leaving that position as well.

SolarEdge has faced a severe crisis over the past two years, leading to a sharp drop in its stock. At its peak, in late 2021, the company reached a market capitalization of nearly $20 billion. By October 2024, however, its valuation had fallen below $1 billion. Excess product inventory in Europe, coupled with rising U.S. interest rates that made rooftop solar installations significantly more expensive, drove the decline. In recent quarters, the company’s results have shown signs of improvement.
In a letter to employees, Zafrir wrote: “Today is my last day on the SE board of directors, and I simply want to say thank you. I began my work with the company’s founders decades ago, and six years ago I was appointed chairman at the request of my dear friend and mentor, Guy Sella, shortly before his passing. For Guy, SolarEdge was not just a company - it was a mission: to build a more sustainable world for future generations. This spirit, and the legacy he left behind, have accompanied me ever since.”
He added: “I leave my role with complete confidence in the future of SolarEdge. Today, we have the right strategy, the right leadership and the right spirit to continue growing. With strong results on track and a market capitalization that has more than doubled in 2025, I know this is the right time for me to pass the torch and dedicate my efforts to my role as CEO of Check Point.”
