Iran targets American tech centers in Israel
Microsoft, Google, and Amazon development sites flagged as potential missile targets by Revolutionary Guards.
Development centers of major American technology companies in Israel have been placed squarely in Iran’s crosshairs. The Iranian Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, published a list of international technology firms operating in Israel and other parts of the Middle East that Tehran claims could become targets for missile strikes. The list includes Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, Oracle, IBM, Google, and Palantir. Notably, Apple does not appear on the list.
Calcalist has learned that, at the outset of the conflict, management teams at these companies were notified by U.S. officials that their Israeli offices could be at risk from Iranian attacks. Following these warnings, employees at Microsoft, TikTok, and Google were advised to work remotely, even as Israel’s Home Front Command issued more lenient instructions regarding office attendance.
The Revolutionary Guards assert that the development activities of the companies on the list are tied to military applications. Since the beginning of the conflict, Iranian missiles and drones have already struck Amazon data centers in the UAE, while a missile impacted Microsoft’s offices in Beersheba during the “Rising Lion” campaign.
The list includes offices in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya, and Beersheba, as well as Bahrain and the UAE.
