Fiverr launches AI video hub in bid to offset pressure on core marketplace

Company pivots toward higher-end creative work as artificial intelligence erodes demand for traditional freelance services.

Fiverr has launched a dedicated AI Video Hub, offering brands direct access to a curated group of independent creators producing commercial video using generative tools. The move marks a strategic shift as the company attempts to counter growing pressure on its core freelance marketplace. Fiverr has seen its market cap shrink to around $360 million, falling almost 60 percent over the past six months.
The new hub brings together a small roster of AI-focused video directors who produce advertisements, branded films and social content without the traditional infrastructure of agencies, production crews or long development cycles. Fiverr is positioning the offering as a faster and lower-cost alternative to conventional video production.

The launch comes as demand for AI-generated video rises sharply. According to Fiverr’s Business Trends Index, searches for AI video creation increased 66% in the second half of 2025. The company argues that this reflects a structural change in how brand content is produced, rather than a short-term shift in tools.
Among the featured creators is Stockholm-based director Billy Boman, whose clients include Google, Universal Music Group, YouTube and Klarna. Other participants include The Dor Brothers, who created a widely viewed AI-generated music video for Snoop Dogg, as well as Julien Nicaud, Too Short for Modeling and Jagger Waters.
Fiverr said these creators are able to deliver work comparable to traditional agencies while operating independently or in small teams, significantly reducing costs and production timelines.
To promote the launch, the company installed a large hillside sign in Los Angeles bearing Boman’s name, in a visual reference to the Hollywood sign.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by Fiverr to reposition itself as an AI-first company. The shift follows a period of weakening performance, with the company warning that artificial intelligence is reducing demand for many of the freelance services that underpin its platform.
Unlike subscription-based software businesses, Fiverr generates revenue from commissions on transactions between freelancers and clients. As AI tools replace tasks such as design, translation and coding, activity on the platform has come under pressure.
In response, the company has cut roughly a quarter of its workforce and begun focusing on higher-value services and larger clients. The AI Video Hub reflects that strategy, targeting a segment where human input remains central but is increasingly augmented by automation.
