8200 alumni raise $8 million Seed round for Rein Security as AppSec faces the AI era

The Israeli startup aims to replace assumption-based defenses with real-time security insight.

Cyber company Rein Security has raised $8 million in funding led by Glilot Capital. Additional investors include Ofer Ben-Noon, CEO and co-founder of Talon and co-founder of Argus; Amir Jerbi, founder of Aqua Security; and Yoav Alon, CTO of Orca Security. Founded in 2024, the company operates offices in Tel Aviv and New York and employs approximately 23 people.
Rein Security was founded by 8200 alumni Matan Bar-Efrat, CEO and co-founder, and Netanel Rubin, CTO and co-founder. After serving as an officer in Unit 8200, Bar-Efrat became European sales manager at Cyberbit until its acquisition by Elbit Systems, where he had previously served as regional manager for the Netherlands.

Rubin also served in Unit 8200 before joining Check Point, where he led the vulnerability research team. In 2018, he founded the cybersecurity startup Holcy, serving as CTO until its acquisition by Elbit Systems in 2020. Following the acquisition, Rubin became head of strategic cyber technologies at Elbit and was later appointed CTO of the company’s cyber division.
Rein Security focuses on addressing critical vulnerabilities in application security and AI. The company has developed technology that enables organizations to unify application security operations within a single platform.
The Rein platform solves key AppSec use cases, including API security and SCA reachability, by applying application runtime context to surface validated risks in production versus theoretical ones. This approach helps teams move beyond static assumptions to understand which APIs and libraries are present in applications in production, determine vulnerability reachability and focus remediation efforts more effectively.
“Security teams have been forced to play guesswork for far too long and we can no longer allow application security to be rooted in assumptions instead of reality,” said Matan Bar Efrat, co-founder and CEO of Rein Security. “We founded Rein to give CISOs and AppSec leaders the ability to protect every app, MCP, library and API without disruption. By seeing and controlling exactly what happens to apps in production, teams can resolve real issues quickly rather than spending excessive time on investigations and analysis.”
