Israel Innovation Authority CEO Dror Bin to step down after five-year term
Exit comes after period of expansion in AI, deep tech, and national R&D funding.
After five years in office, Israel Innovation Authority CEO Dror Bin has announced his intention to conclude his term in the coming months, following an orderly transition period designed to ensure full managerial continuity.
During his tenure, the Israel Innovation Authority significantly expanded its investments in Israeli technology companies, R&D infrastructure, and strategic technological sectors. Among other initiatives, it launched the Startup Fund, the Yozma Fund, and the Applied Research Fund, aimed at enabling Israeli entrepreneurs and tech companies to grow even during periods of global slowdown and uncertainty.
His term was marked by a series of major challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the global downturn in the technology sector, broader economic uncertainty, and the impact of the Swords of Iron War on the Israeli economy.
Bin said: “After five intense and action-packed years, I have decided this is the right time to conclude my term. I had the privilege of leading the Innovation Authority during a challenging and significant period. I am leaving my role at a time when Israeli high-tech is demonstrating stability, strength, and an ability to recover even under conditions of deep uncertainty.
“Together with the Authority’s employees, government ministries, entrepreneurs, investors, and technology companies, we have worked to strengthen the central growth engine of the Israeli economy. I am particularly proud that we have succeeded in laying important foundations in artificial intelligence, deep tech, and innovation that will support the Israeli economy for years to come.”
The Authority’s board is expected to appoint a search committee and launch a public process for nominations. Candidates with senior management experience in high tech, deep familiarity with innovation ecosystems and the Israeli economy, and experience leading strategic processes in both local and international arenas will be considered.
Bin will continue to serve in his role during the transition period until a successor is appointed.
