Amdocs begins cutting jobs in Israel as global layoff plan moves forward

The software giant's restructuring under new CEO Shimie Hortig has reached Israel, where hundreds of jobs may be at risk among the company's 4,000 local employees.

The restructuring program at Amdocs has begun to take shape in Israel, with employees across several departments receiving summonses on Tuesday for pre-layoff hearings.
The exact number of employees expected to be affected in Israel remains unclear. However, given that Amdocs employs roughly 4,000 people in the country and is expected to reduce its global workforce by between 7% and 10%, industry estimates suggest that between 300 and 400 Israeli employees could ultimately lose their jobs.

The layoffs mark the latest chapter in a years-long effort by one of Israel's largest software companies to reshape its cost structure and operating model amid profound changes in the technology industry. They also represent the first major workforce reduction under newly appointed CEO Shimie Hortig, who took over leadership of the company at the end of March following the retirement of longtime CEO Shuky Sheffer.
The cuts come as Amdocs embarks on what it has described as a broad redesign of its operating model. While the company has framed the process as preparation for "the next stage of market development," the layoffs underscore the growing pressure on large enterprise software providers to adapt to a rapidly changing environment shaped by artificial intelligence, automation, and shifting customer spending priorities.
Amdocs said last month: “Amdocs’ new leadership is currently leading a broad process to redesign the company’s operating model as part of its preparation for the next stage of market development and to strengthen its global leadership.
“As part of this process, the status and strategic importance of the company’s operations in Israel are also expected to be strengthened.”
Amdocs employs approximately 29,000 people worldwide. The company has maintained a substantial presence in Israel for decades, operating major development centers and employing thousands of engineers, product managers, and support staff.
The latest round follows a series of workforce reductions over the past several years. In 2023, Amdocs eliminated approximately 2,700 positions in two separate waves. The first affected around 700 employees globally, including roughly 100 in Israel. The second resulted in approximately 2,000 additional job cuts worldwide, including around 200 in Israel.
The downsizing continued in 2024, when the company cut more than 1,500 positions, followed by several hundred additional layoffs in 2025.
