Musk says SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI after Trump pushes ‘super intelligence’

The SpaceX CEO confirmed the planned name change on X but gave no timeline for when it will take effect.

Elon Musk said Sunday that SpaceX will rename its artificial intelligence unit from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s push to replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “super intelligence.”
Musk confirmed the planned change in a reply on X to a user who asked whether SpaceXAI would be renamed SpaceXSI. “Yes, we will make that change,” he wrote.

Musk did not provide a timeline or explain the decision further. As of Sunday, the SpaceXAI account on X had not been renamed, and the company had not responded to a request for comment.
The proposed rebranding follows comments Trump made last month in a speech to the United Nations General Assembly. Trump said that U.S. government documents, and hopefully documents around the world, would begin using what he called the more accurate term “super intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence.”
The move comes as AI has become an increasingly important part of SpaceX’s business. Earlier this year, Musk merged xAI with SpaceX, bringing his artificial intelligence company under the same corporate umbrella as the rocket and satellite business.
The combined company is investing heavily in AI infrastructure. SpaceX has said it expects to build substantial computing capacity over the coming years, while its AI operations are also beginning to generate revenue from computing customers.
