Iranian missile hits Haifa Bay oil refineries

Cluster munition strikes multiple locations as power outages reported in region. Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, said the damage to the electricity grid in northern Israel was limited and that the barrage did not cause significant damage to critical infrastructure.

An Iranian missile fired as part of a broader barrage struck Bazan oil refineries in Haifa Bay on Thursday afternoon, as sirens sounded across large parts of Israel following launches from Iran and additional rocket fire from Lebanon.
Initial assessments indicated that the missile was a cluster munition, which impacted multiple locations in the Haifa area. Power outages were reported in parts of Haifa and nearby Kiryat Haim following the strike.

Emergency teams were dispatched to several reported impact sites. Magen David Adom said it had not received any immediate reports of injuries.
Iranian state television claimed the strike targeted an energy facility in retaliation for damage to the South Pars gas field.
Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, said the damage to the electricity grid in northern Israel was limited.
“The damage to the electricity grid in the north is localized and not significant,” Cohen said. “Electric Company teams are already working in the field and have restored power to most affected areas. Electricity will be restored to the remaining areas within a short period of time.”
He added that the barrage did not cause significant damage to critical infrastructure.
