Latest layoffs at Unity to include dozens of employees in Israel

The gaming company will be parting ways with a total of 600 employees in its third round of layoffs in a year

Unity Israel, formerly ironSource, is embarking on another round of layoffs as part of the company’s global cutbacks. According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal, the company is set to lay off around 600 employees in total, with Calcalist learning that dozens of them are based in Israel.
This is the third round of layoffs in Unity in a year, with around 200 staff losing their jobs in June 2022 and 284 employees parting ways with the company in January of this year. According to the report, Unity is also reducing the number of offices it has around the world from 58 to less than 30.

Unity and ironSource officially completed their merger last November, with Unity rejecting along the way an offer from gaming software company AppLovin to acquire the company for $17.54 billion. Unity instead chose to go ahead with its $4.4 billion all-stock deal to merge with the Israeli-founded mobile app monetization company.

With ironSource, Unity was aiming to become the industry’s leading end-to-end platform for mobile app creators. Unity stated back in November that “the combined company is expected to be highly profitable and generate positive free cash flow.”
