Iran fires missiles at Israel following Beirut strike on Hezbollah

IDF says defensive systems activated as nationwide emergency measures introduced.

Iran launched missiles toward Israel on Sunday evening, triggering sirens across large parts of northern Israel amid threats from Tehran following Israel’s strike on Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahieh district.
Schools across Israel will be closed on Monday.
Shortly before the launches, the IDF said that, following a situational assessment, security forces were preparing for possible fire toward Israel in the coming hours.

“The IDF has reinforced its defensive systems and is in a state of readiness and high alert for a range of scenarios, both defensive and offensive,” the military said. “IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and senior commanders are currently holding situational assessments and closely monitoring developments.”
The IDF later said missiles had been launched from Iran toward northern Israel. “Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said. “In the past few minutes, Home Front Command issued precautionary instructions directly to mobile phones in the relevant areas.”
Following the assessment, Home Front Command announced a shift to limited activity nationwide. Educational activities are prohibited. Gatherings are permitted with up to 200 people outdoors and up to 500 people indoors, provided participants can reach a standard protected space in time. Beaches have been closed to the public.
